If I buy a car from a owner not dealership How I suppose to get like 90 day plates from DMV ? What are requirements for CT ? I have no insurance yet what the best and cheapest of cheapest insurance for young drivers in CT ? What suppose to do if you get pull over and explain you just brought the car ?
Check your state's dmv site. But usually in my experience you get a certain number of days to register it where you are ok to drive just with the bill of sale and no plates.
I sold several cars when I kept custom LPs. Was upfront with buyer, they knew.
What they did they went to DMV and purchased 3 day temp permit. It's like a "travel permit".
Then they simply took car, drove home or to whatever choice of license place they had, registered car and had LPs right away. Here in WA licensing gives you LP right away.
Easy.
Some states will allow you to drive a vehicle vehicle from the point of purchase (individual sale) to your house or to the local DMV without a plate. MI for example, but I would guess other states may allow it too.
I had State Farm when I lived in CT but have since found that Geico is a very good insurance company. However I have not lived in CT in quite some time.
It has been a while since I lived in CT but I believe you cannot legally drive the car without at least a temporary registration. Also make sure your car is ready for emissions and inspection. You have to go to an official station for that and you only get one free retest if it fails.
