HUMBLE, TX (KPRC/CNN) - It was silver, sleek and futuristic - at the time - and the car made famous by the Back to the Future movies.

The DeLorean hasn’t been made for more than three decades but that’s all changing.

The current plan of selling them for $100k is a bit out of touch.

adjusted for inflation, it should msrp around $70k but, even then, it would compete with the Stingray 3LT on the showroom floor.
At 100k, there are soooo many other more attractive options out there.

They have been saying this for ages on their website.

I'd rather just pay $40k for an original with 10k miles on it.

Only reason I haven't is that I'm not interested in driving down to Houston to have it serviced.

They may have been saying it for ages, but recent federal law changes now make it actually viable (i.e low volume production cars that replicate 25 year old and older cars don't have to meet modern crash standards).

These cars weren't that great when they were new. Very slow. Doc had his calibrated to go back in time when it hit 88 mph because you needed way too much road to hit its top speed of 120 and a mall parking lot just wasn't cutting it.

Exactly. People thought it was just a cool addition to the car to make it fly, but really, they just needed an extremely long amount of space to get up to highway speeds LOL

I'm surprised how much media this "news" has received in the past two days. This company has been selling DeLoreans built from their warehouse of original parts for like 20 years already. I guess there is some slight distinction between refurbishing existing cars with these original parts and building "new" cars with these old parts but it hardly matches the hype.
