Greetings,
I have been thinking of possibly buying a used subcompact car. Today I saw a Chevy Aveo hatchback and a Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback in a local store parking lot sitting nose to nose. I was wondering if either one of these vehicles are any good quality and reliability wise? (so that I might possibly look for one to buy). Any comments or feedback?
Thank you

They seem like pretty terrible cars to me, There are much better choices in the basic no frills econobox segment.

You're pretty much looking at bottom of the barrel in quality for cars available in the US. Reliability isn't much better.

Mitsu's are actually pretty good, come with a 10 yr/100k warranty, and new can be bought for around $12k. Actual consumer reviews are excellent.

There are reviews for both those cars all over the internet. They are both no frills A to B transportation and not too much else. You should probably look into them yourself as 2 out of 3 of the above statements seemed to be based on kneejerk hearsay and not on reality.

I'd take the Mitsubishi over the Aveo because the Mitsubishi is a new car in USA while the Aveo is discontinued, renamed the Chevy Sonic. If you're going to look at these two, include the Nissan Versa hatchback in your comparison.

Mirage is Consumer Reports recommended vehicle.

The Chevy Aveo is actually a Daewoo built in South Korea. If you remember their short-lived stay here in the USA, that should tell you all you need to know. The same goes for today's Chevy Spark, unless you are in the market for the electric model.

I was hoping for a general consensus opinion rather than read a hundred different reviews on one single model.
