I've yet to see many muscle car on the highway going faster than 80mph. Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes, and even Chargers are very common on the highway but usually they are in the middle lane going 60ish. I've rarely seen one going faster than 70+

Yet I commonly see other cars going faster than 80mph+ every day. If I had a muscle car I would have a very hard time keeping it under 90mph.

Funny u say that. Most Porsches that I see on the highway are being driven slower than the rest of the traffic and it's usually an older man behind the wheel. Every time I see this I say to myself ...if that's how you're going to drive a Porsche, why didn't you buy something along the lines of a Buick or Cadillac?

Many doctors drive Porsche's. One near me drives one with the license plate ASSMAN, he's a proctologist.

just because you can, don't mean you should. Common sense should tell you that those cars would be pulled over instantly running anything over 10 over posted speed limit, a cop is expecting a corvette to be running 90+ down the highway, so why do it? Cars like that are known for their speed, and have nothing to prove anyway. It's easier for...mere mortal vehicles to speed, who's expecting an Aerostar, or Buick Century to be running 20+ the speed limit? Think. Normal flys under the radar, the Hellcat is asking for trouble looking at an on-ramp.

I have not found a single Mustang V8 on the highway that ever hit above 80mph. I'm sure it can fly, either the drivers are just being really easy on them or afraid to get tickets. If I had a Mustang V8, I wouldn't mind hitting 80mph+ since most highways in NJ don't have speed traps anymore. I frequently see cars going 85mph. The other day I had to move out of the left lane at 83mph because some Hyundai Sonata behind me wanted to go faster.

And so many trucks look like they haven't seen dirt....ever.

It is what people do. They buy things and never use them for what they were designed for.

A lot of these muscle cars are cop magnets, most of the owners have probably had their fill of speeding tickets and have finally got the message so they now drive at the speed limit.

EXACTLY RIGHT!!!! mustangs, camaros, corvettes, firebirds, and the various exotic cars on the roads today garner far more attention than the average camery, taurus, fusion, malibu, etc.

do 85 in a camery, and a cop might not look twice at you, do 70 in a mustang, and the cop may pace you for several miles. case in point, many years ago i was towing my 66 mustang home down the freeway. i was driving a fairmont at the time. the speed limit was 55mph at the time, but a lot of people passed me at much higher speeds. several times i had both new mexico state police, and arizona highway patrol officers pace me for miles, even though we were both being passed by other cars. and that was just towing the mustang. imagine what kind of a cop magnet that mustang would have been had i been driving it.

The so called muscle car will accelerate faster and get to top speed faster. However, even an average car today will easily reach speeds over 100 mph, it just takes a few seconds longer. In my group of friends, I believe that I'm the only one that has reached and maintained a speed over 150 mph on the highway. The speed limiter is set at 155 for my car.

I have one of the muscle cars in question with race bullet mufflers not intended for street use and a custom tune with all mpg saving features and communist baby sitting bs removed and the reason I won't go faster than the speeds in question (unless 3-4 other cars are also doing it) is because the car becomes too loud and attracts too much attention.

I gladly floor it to 7 miles over the speed limit from a stop whenever possible however. A cop on a motorcycle once shook is head but didn't do anything when I finished going through a school zone. I went 17mph through it but at the "end school zone" sign I floored it to 52 mph and made a jaywalker think twice about crossing.

Not so much on the highway, but on the streets sometimes I come across teenagers that think they are hot **** for driving faster than me, only to see them pulled over awhile later.
