Hyundai has been making large construction vehicles. I think they can handle a sedan.

They never really built their own cars from scratch until the late 90s. That's when the corner started turning.
I'd pay full price for a Honda or Toyota with NO warranty, versus a kia or hyundia with 1,000,000 warranty. First, they rarely back the warrants and are just cheaply made junk vehicles. They are just junk. Never had a toyota start giving me any problems under 180,000 miles and I've owned many. I had a kia once and the timing belt broke 500 miles over the 60,000 mil recommended change interval and Kia would not pay for the repairs.
It's simple. They recognize that they do not have the same long term reliability record that Honda/Toyota do, so to market their cars they offer a warranty that sounds good. Toyota does not need to do this.
I want to take that logic further. If a car manufacturer offers a new car with no warranty than that means their car is rock solid reliable. 100k warranty = gimmick, 30-60k warranty = reliable, 0k warranty = ???
I was driving past a Hyundai dealership today and saw 20yr/200K Warranty on the windshields.
I was wondering if there are a bunch of catches to it, like all work must be done by their dealership only, any work by yourself doesnt count and if needed 18 or 19 years later, would they even put in a brand new engine if the engine blew out.
So would you buy a Hyundai or Kia, simply because they are offering a 20yr/200K warranty if you had the choice between them and the other auto manufacturers?
I would buy another KIA in a flash even without the 20/200 warranty. My KIA is a 4cyl 2002 Sportage with over 150K miles on it. I LOVE it. It was my only vehicle until 2 years ago when we bought a back-up used monster specifically for towing. And last year I had to buy a larger vehicle for transporting people and rescue dogs. I wanted a KIA but there wasn't one in the same price range for the size I needed and so we got a Caravan. I still drive my KIA everywhere and prefer it.

Seems you are judging them by their past. From you mentioned timing belt I knew you were talking about an older Kia, as Kia stop using timing belt a long time ago. A lot has changed with Hyundai/Kia. Couple of years ago I would have never bought either of these Korean cars, but after all the great reviews of the last 10yrs until now, I went with a Sonata. So far it's been trouble free and definitely one of the best cars I have ever owned. It's a little over 100k with no issue.
They have invested a lot of money in recent years and hired experts from many of the other top car companies to help improve their cars. This is why they are now one of the most reliable modern cars.
