Well that didn't take long...

"Honda issued a recall for approximately 9,200 examples of the 2017 Ridgeline mid-size pickup truck. The affected vehicles all contain Honda's optional all-wheel drive, and feature build dates between April 1 and August 11, 2016."

"The issue stems from a wiring harness under the truck bed. There's a connector located under the truck bed's drain hole, and water escaping from the bed has a chance to enter the wiring harness through that connector."

Interesting. I really wanted one, but opted against a truck for now and went in another direction.

I noticed my local Honda dealer has two '17 Ridgelines on the certified lot when I drove by yesterday. I checked their website out of curiosity and both are middle trim level 2WD models.

Simple enough fix,the bigger question is why on a brand new model didn't engineering catch this during new model builds? Hope this isn't the tip of the iceberg.
