Thanks for pointing that out, may I simply counter that until this "dipstickless" trend, it was usually the other way around?

Warmed/hot fluid or liquid, in this case oil though is also true of ATF and other liquids, flow easier than vs cold. Motor oil is jello-like upon cold, so, it is easier for a MityVac or siphon pump or extractor/evacuator to get it out that way when hot.

If we haven't used a breaker bar on that oil pan drain bolt. I am not sure why OP has given up on the "overtightened bolt." Apply heat and tap it loose with leverage.................

Isn't there a way to get the oil out through the oil filter hole? Otherwise either replace the pan or tap out the threads on the oil pan and use the next size up plug. The pan is like $60 how is that not worth it?

They can sometimes have stuff in the way, making them PITA.

I'm not fully believing less than 5 minutes on a lift with a breaker bar won't loose that plug. Seriously. One foot two two or so of extension, tap on it with a hammer in a downward direction, probably don't even need heat.

Just sayin'.

I took him to mean that if it's removed it won't be able to be sealed again, not that it can't be loosened.

I'm sure the threads could be tapped possibly a bit larger and a new plug fitted but as I said the pan is ~$60. It would take a bit of labor to swap it out but should be worth it.

Frequently engine access in vans is to say the least bad. A topside oil changer will do the job and no need to disturb the jerry-rigged oversize drain bolt already in the oil pan.

OP has not checked back in so probably is not really interested in fixing his problem anyway.
