Not because of the car itself but because the dealer is shady. Because we have little to no credit one seems to be at the mercy of some really bad dealers. The first day they said that they had financing for us & that our payments would be said amount that was last Saturday. Went in the other day because we haven't signed any paperwork because the finance guy was sick.

When I went in the salesman said they still haven't found financing for us but don't worry if they can't they can do buy here pay here & still help our credit. Well, the wife & I talked it over & today I'm taking the car back & getting our down payment back. We figure that they will come back with a higher payment & some outrageous interest rate.

We NEVER signed anything has they never had the paperwork ready. I'm betting that they will have magically found financing for us when I walk in. Should be interesting to see but as I said the car is going back lesson learned.

I find it strange that you took the car home, and gave a down payment, but have no idea what the interest is or what the payments would be. Seems very shady.

Last time I purchased a used car, I knew all the financials up front, and my interest rate before paying a cent or signing on the dotted line.

They were hoping you would fall in love with it, get used to having it, drove it to church on Sunday and then accept whatever terms they finally got you approved for no matter how crappy because you'd be too ashamed to take it back after all your friends and neighbors saw you with it...

Not a good business practice at all but unfortunately it is very common tactic used on people with marginal credit. Maybe they will work something out for you and call you back later.

Got our money back he kept trying to tell me that in his opinion we bought the car, I asked him to show me where we signed any type of contact. He looked though the paperwork we never got & then said I'll give you back your down payment. He had nothing in the end.

Lesson learned on our part.

I thought for sure you were stuck with the car, no return of the downpayment.

I didn't. With the whole lack of signed agreement the worst that could have been claimed is that they bought it for the down payment.
