I keep my cars a long time so I have service records of mileage driven in past years. I used to drive about 12K miles per year, now that is down to about 8K. That's a 33% drop.

What changed? Many fewer miles driven to go shopping.

Ten years ago, if I needed something I'd drive to several stores and use up several hours hunting for the item.

Now, it's a few key keystrokes on a laptop, click on it, and it arrives in two days.

I save gas, time, wear and tear, and pollute less.

Perhaps the recent cuts in Automobile manufacturing reflect the cumulative effect of this change.

Yes, I work remote now (fly to/from client sites). I’m putting approximately 250 miles per month on my car. 10 years ago it was closer to 1100 per month.

I was driving upwards of 20K miles a year about 10 years ago, split half and half between commuting and pleasure. I was out and about all the time.

Now with a family where I am not taking off to wherever unknown every day, and also a job where I only go into the office 1 day a week, I drive about 5,000 miles a year.

I enjoy driving, but I find it nice when I can go a whole month without visiting a gas pump!

I do drive a bit less. I used to go up to the mountains at least 4 to 6 times a year to backpack but now limit it to only once or twice just to go camping and hiking. My back hates backpacking now unfortunately.

I probably drive more now because my work has changed and I have to drive many more miles to court.

Probably more but thats only because our daughter moved further away which is a 100 mile round trip.
As far as work goes its probably about the same as before.

Nope, I drive more because I've moved to a more rural area.

Great question, Vision . . .

Since retiring a few years ago, probably less than 2k miles on each of my two vehicles per year vs about 10k each.

Retiring, online shopping, moving "in town" and, above all, buying a bicycle for both fresh air and exercise are all to blame.

In the old days, I always kept track of the mileage for service, now it is once a year for a full service regardless of the miles driven.
