Miles do not always correlate to excessive wear, but don’t forget a lot of those miles are from sitting in traffic or stop and go city driving which certainly will add wear.

How do you get miles from sitting in traffic??
A car that is "not so old" but has high mileage did not get that way from sitting in traffic or stopping/going.
Shoot, I had to dump my Toyota Avalon for $1800 when moving from MN to Las Vegas last summer because it needed a new catalytic converter (for 3 years, couldn't justify fixing it, sorry mother nature).
It had 290K, all MN driving (i.e. winter/salt) and looked like new. Inside and out. I'm also anal about my vehicles.
In all that time, that 2000 Avalon only cost me a oxygen sensor and a fuel pump. And of course, the cat covert I never fixed. Seriously, in 17 years and almost 300K, nada. I almost cried getting rid of it. The person who bought it got a steal.
If a car has good maintenance records and looks very clean inside and out, I wouldn't even bat an eye at 150K. Especially if you can be sure it was mostly highway miles.
$8K is the bottom of the used car market for a lower milage car. $4K? Not so much.
Yea i'm now upping it to 6k
I don't mind doing a little engine work hear and there, but i want to stay away from cars that have serious issues.
Example:
The Nissan Sentra had all types of Problems with their CVT Transmissions across multiple years.
I test drove a 2010 Nissan Sentra at this small dealership, and at 150k miles the Transmission was Shot, would go over 60 mph when i drove it. The dealer tried to convince that it just needed the Fluid Change

Sadly the Corolla was the only decent car on this List.
The Lexus is salvage Title here California. I called my insurance company and they want me to jump though hoops to insure it.

I drive 134 miles each way every day for work. It adds up. Cars today just shrug it off if properly maintained.
