I recently purchased a 2019 VW Jetta with about 6,000 miles. I've noticed a faint rotten egg smell in the cabin after a hard acceleration. It goes away fairly quickly. I've been looking in various online forums, I can't tell if this is normal for a newer car or an issue with the catalytic converter. It's under warranty so I can take it back to the dealership if needed. It has a clean CarFax and no issues from the vehicle inspection report. Anyone know what this smell is?

Exhaust systems that smell like rotten eggs or sulfur are usually due to an exhaust leak. You may have a hole in the muffler, tailpipe or exhaust pipe.
Take the vehicle back to the dealership and have it checked out. Make sure that the service writer writes down exactly what your issue is. AND get a copy of the work order for your records.
If you purchased this car from a used car lot then take car to the brand dealership.
There is a warranty and then in some states there are implied warranty laws.
Either way report issue and get a paper copy from the dealership even if they state this is normal AFTER actually checking car out. Don't take or except a verbal explanation. Make sure they put on lift and visually check things out. Get it all in writing.
There really shouldn't be an egg smell. After the car is broken in or driven for a few miles. Maybe a visit to a dedicated forum for your vehicle will bring up some good responses/explanations.
Thank you I appreciate this. I’ll take it back this weekend. I bought it from a VW dealership. It has a 72,000-mile warranty through VW. I’m surprised it cleared their inspection report with this issue.

You mean 2018 not 2019 because 6,000 on a 2019 is allot of miles so far most 2019 didn’t hit the showroom floors until October of 2018 either way it’s a new vehicle still.

It’s 2019; a guy bought it last summer at the dealership and sold it back to them after two months. Apparently he moved. It all checked out on the dealer inspection report so I thought it was ok to buy.
The rotten egg smell has nothing to do with the cat. converter.
It's the fuel you are putting in it. Try a different brand from a major company. Avoid the small mom and pop stores that don't sell a lot of fuel.
