My Tesla has it. I took my wife's navigator to Lowes once and came back to her car running with the doors unlocked. Oops
LOL - whoa! Thank goodness luck was on your side... wouldn't want to explain that to your wife... "Remember that Lincoln Navigator you used to have???"
In my case, I'm helping spouse exit car, use cane or walker and also watching for distracted drivers. It was just no nice to have such a Honda feature.
Mazda has it. The car will give a very light beep once you get a few feet away to let you know it has locked.
Only issue is the sensitivity of how far a few feet is. I believe the sensors are near the front of the car, so if you walk around the back and aren't right next to car it'll lock all of the doors except for the drivers. Once those doors lock it appears to be on a timer and 5-10 seconds later will lock the drivers door.
I do wish that they would add a small alarm if the key gets far enough away and the doors didn't lock (any door slightly open). Walked over to my car to find the doors unlocked quite a few times, cause I never noticed if it had beeped or not.
So what happens it a passenger remains inside the car after the driver has walked away with the keys? Say, like for a quick trip inside a convenience store? Will the vehicle sound an alarm if the passenger opens the door from inside?
I didn't know they had cars that would lock when you walked away from them. I used to have a Mercedes that would lock every time I got in it and started driving down the road. I really liked that feature. My Subaru doesn't do that. If you want the doors locked you have to do it yourself, and then you have to hit the button so you can exit the car. With the Mercedes, just pulling the handle up will allow the door to open, unless one wanted to set the childproof controls.
