Americans could see some fresh Italian faces if Chrylser's deal with Fiat goes through.

Chrysler LLC is in the midst of intense negotiations - discussions that now seem troubled - to form a partnership with Italy's Fiat.

I can only see Chrysler Styling and Fiat engines. The chance of this combination coming up with a beautiful, fast, efficient, economic and reliable car is just about nil. Too bad because I think a car with Italian styling, Chrysler power and decent pricing would be a winner.

And pretty much any Alfa. Anyone who says Fiats are ugly, hasn't really looked at Chrysler's lineup of small to mid sized cars lately (Challenger excluded)

Could the 500 or one of the other cars become a modern version of the GLH?

Well the 500 is the subcompact econo-car with throwback style, sort of like the Modern MINI.

The Abarth would just be their version of a Cooper S JCW (but probably not as quick, not sure but guessing)

I just like the style of the Abarth badged and retuned 500. I'd probably never buy one since we have two small cars now

But the style rocks Fiat.co.uk - 500 Abarth (http://www.fiat.co.uk/500abarth/ - broken link) (check the pic on the splash page)

A guy on TV the other night said FIAT stands for "Fix It Again Tony".

Seriously, if Daimler Benz couldn't do anything with Chrysler, what chance does Fiat have?
