Grand National, GNX and T-Type Are Returning to Buick
Currently in rumor. Story goes that it'll be based upon the same platform as the Cadillac ATS RWD platform. Possible engine choices include turbo charged 3.6L for the Grand National and V8 for GNX.
I don't know how I feel about this. I like the old GNX/GN but considering how well GM has been turning around Cadillac I wish they would just let Cadillac be Cadillac and Buick be Opel. I don't particularly want an ATS based Buick diluting the market. This is typical GM. Let's make a really good thing and then make way more copies than is needed.

They could have kept the turbo 3.6 V6 and or the V8 for a ATS-V edition. I agree about diluting. Nothing wrong with making Buick the American Opel.

I'll believe it when I see it, especially the V8 option.

IF this ever comes to fruition, I don't think dilution would be a big issue if they just keep it to a limited run of niche-market high-po Buicks. If they make a mainstream Buick ATS, then dilution is a bigger issue.

Buick badged Opel's are probably the best thing to happen to Buick in a very long time. They are good cars and I've always liked European market Opel's.
Only problem is they're offering these as sedans; the original GN/T types and GNX's were all coupes. Guess they're going the way of the Charger. Not to mention the car is flat out ugly. I'd much rather see the original brick style brought back. No sense in tarnishing another legendary car name.
Well, GM wants to recoup it's costs in the ATS chassis by spreading it around. The Camaro will already be moving to that platform the next go around (making it lighter in the process), and that opens up the option for the Buick to be a coupe as well. Of course, there's also talk of there being an ATS coupe, like the CTS Coupe, to compete with the BMW 3 series coupe (which will now be known as the 4 series).
