For my last trip back to US, the best fare was on Emirates Airline stopping over at Dubai. There was a US$700 difference between that fare and what I ended up taking. I was very tempted by the price differential, and I know Emirates is constantly ranked as one of the best airlines, but I did not want to fly over the Middle East.
Don't get me wrong... I did not mean being on street. I meant with all the wars going on and rebel fighters capable of shooting rockets, I did not want to be in that sky.

I know you meant safe airspace. I don't recall every route but i think the planes flew and well still fly safe routes. Yes the chance of something going south in the middle east is greater than let's say South America but still a minimal risk.
It depends on who you fly, with Emirates having less of a choice because of the location of their hub. Some airlines will completely avoid conflict regions, others will overfly them happily for a buck. I believe there will always be a threat no matter where you fly.

Dubai doesn't have rebels with rockets. Other areas of Middle East have rebels but they don't have rockets that can shoot down an airliner at 35k feet.
Think about how many people are in areas surrounding Israel that would love to shoot down an airliner, do you see planes to/from Tel Aviv getting shot down? Nope. SAMs that can take out airliners at altitude are big, expensive, and complex to operate.
Live in Kuwait - all aircraft avoid Iraq and Syria which seem to have problems. Going to Europe, planes from UAE and Kuwait will go over Iran and Turkey. Eastward bound flights will cross Egypt and Saudi going to UAE. The big three Emirates, Qatar Air, and Etihad are all good/great airlines.
You would be fine. Your fear is completely irrational. Thousands of flights take off daily un the Middle East, and none are harmed. The Middle East is a big place, and it isn't full of passenger-jet targeting terrorists.
