A family of four (2 kids)...kicked off and refunded (not re-booked) ... Cameron Burke told the Daily News that they first put the cake in an overhead bin, but a flight attendant "nicely" asked them to remove it. So he moved it to another one, he said.

"She then asked me to move it to underneath the seat in front of me," Cameron Burke told the newspaper. "I did."

At this point, he said, a second flight attendant intervened and began accosting the first flight attendant.

The family shouldn't have been allowed to board the plane in the first place. Stupid airline.

Do airlines not check what passengers are carrying with them BEFORE they board the plane?

That would be a huge security hole.

I don't understand why the cake wasn't permitted in the overhead bin. I'm assuming since they bought it at a bakery, it was sealed. If the cake falls out or gets crushed, they have a crushed cake. *shrug*

The airline security seemed to think everything was fine when they got off the plane - sounds like the flight attendants went a little overboard.

I wonder if people are beginning to cause situations like this in order to make money from a settlement following media outrage.

You can x-ray a cake and see that there is no saw or bomb inside. Water could be a different ignitable fluid. TSA let the cake pass and so did the gate agent and the 1st stewardess.

This wasn't about that. It was about where they put the cake in the plane. They weren't worried the cake had a bomb in it.

Ok. So we have how many flights per day in the US? LOTS. I guess now with ease of creating video proof, we now know that flight attendants go psycho about once every few days.

Which begs the question, why couldn't the cake be stored in the overhead bin?
Where are they supposed to be put it if not the overhead bin?

Is there a special place where cake has to be stored?

The airlines are run by complete retards.
