We will be coming to Baltimore every couple of months....and we're having a hard time finding info on bars/clubs/lounges/outdoor venues, etc... that might have live bands in the evenings! Can anyone help? Not looking for "arena" style shows...just more or less "local" entertainment!

The 8x10 in Federal Hill (relatively close to the Inner Harbor) usually has live bands performing there.

If you don't mind heading out away from the Inner Harbor there is also the Ottobar which has a lot of music acts rolling thru there.

Check out schedules from Soundstage and Rams Head Live. I know you want "local" entertainment, but ticket prices at these too venues are really affordable at these smaller/intimate venues.

Baltimore Soundstage

Rams Head Live | Baltimore, Maryland

If you like metal/rock come up to my neighborhood in Remington/Charles Village - Ottobar has great bands. (Thanks for mentioning this, diablo234)

Lots of good, free live music in the bars and clubs in the Fells Point waterfront, like Cat's a Eye Pub, Waterfront hotel, etc. joe Squared Pizza also has good live bands in Station North.

Check out the City Paper for more info.

+1. Just take a stroll down Thames Street and you'll hear live music coming out of multiple bars. The Point is another pub on that block that does live music consistently.

Thanks, all! When you're staying someplace you've never been, it's nice to have names of bars/restaurants, etc....

Does Baltimore have any 3rd Thursday or 1st Friday outdoor events? You know, sort of a "block party" for the community in the summer?

Use Pollstar (Pollstar) to get an idea of who may be coming through while you are in town. But generally, the 8x10, Rams Head Live, Soundstage, Pier Six and the Ottobar are my local go to's and all (with the exception of Ottobar) are a few blocks from the inner harbor. As someone else mentioned, do yourself a favor and pick up a free City Paper (in the yellow boxes) when you get here. Pretty comprehensive coverage of what's going on in town each week. There are a ton of clubs in DC as well.

So, Baltimore ONLY has 3 or 4 places to hear live music?! For a major city (that is trying to be a MAJOR city), why is there only a handful of live music venues in Baltimore??!
