Hello everyone! I was recently offered a job at one of the hospitals in downtown Baltimore and was wondering about the city - overall safety, good places to look for an apartment or potentially house if I like it there, and what the quality of life is. I am a mid 30s single, white, lesbian female who currently lives elsewhere in the Northeast. I’ve heard good and bad about Baltimore (as with all cities), but I am wanting and needing feedback before moving there if I accept the job. Is the city LGBT friendly? Thank you.

There are a couple of threads on this similar topic already. There are some clear trolling posts in them, too, so you'll need to take those with a grain of salt (they should be pretty obvious):

My spouse and I are part of the LGBTQ+ category and have never had a problem.

JHH? UMD? Mercy? Other? Do they offer any sort of housemate match up?
It might be the best option for the first six months or so as you learn your way around.

Quality of life in B'more or anywhere else is mostly what we make of it.
Finding community, friends and the "third place" spots to achieve that shouldn't be hard at all.

wrt to real estate choices and especially regarding a purchase...
learn the commuting routes to whichever of the several hospitals you'll be at
and the legal/political division of the City vs the County

Go to the Mount Vernon neighborhood and ask residents if Baltimore is LGBT friendly.

Hello everyone. I’m an Irish lad looking to invest in Baltimore. Flip and sell/rent a place. I love Baltimore and I’m just at a little standstill at the min cause the realtor isn’t aloud tell me what neighborhoods are good and not so good. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And I’ll see you all Paddy’s weekend in Fells Point.

Start your search by checking out the neighborhoods along the waterfront.

Baltimore is so LBGT friendly that for the past couple of decades it has been known as the San Francisco of the East Coast.

I have never heard of this. Although there is a gay community and I can't remember exactly where it is. Up town a bit. You could see the Jones Falls from the bottom of the street.

It’s gay friendly but keep in mind that many of those people are so “woke” that they are a big part of the reason the city is as dangerous and deadly as it is.
