Bautista, Tulowitzki and Pillar homered off Chris Tillman and sent the Jays on their way. Marco Estrada picked up his 12th win and the Jays ended a successful home stand at 7-2.
They have now gone 33-12 since the All-Star break and have touched off a case of baseball fever not seen in 20+ years.
10-game road trip coming up, 3 in Fenway starting today and 4 in Yankee Stadium.
Until the 10th inning, the Jays were 0-13 with RISP and locked into a suspenseful 1-1 game. The dam broke in the 10th, Toronto scored 4 and hung on for the W.
It was the 10th consecutive win in an R. A. Dickey start.
Jays announced that Marcus Stroman will make his 1st start of the season against the Yankees on Saturday. And Mark Buehrle went back to TO to get a cortison shot in his shoulder. That's worrisome.
Joe Kelly won his 8th consecutive start and Drew Hutchison was his usual horrible road self as the Sox beat up on the Jays. David Ortiz hit career homer #498.
As long as the Jays split the 4 games they should be fine, and even winning only 1 only leaves them a half game back which is easy to make up with about 20 games left. What they can't do however is get swept.
Yeah, a split would work for me. A sweep for either team could be psychologically devastating for the other.
Yesterday's tilt was rained out. They'll play two Saturday.
Price today, Estrada & Stroman for Saturday (think Estrada's got the first game, Stroman the night cap) and Dickey still scheduled for Sunday.
