Which could impact how much they are willing to spend. Although they do have a new TV deal coming in the next few years. That should bring in a ton of extra money.

So far this year no; think a lot of next year will depend on moves and health

2012 MLB Attendance - Major League Baseball - ESPN

but attendance for the most part can only go down from where it has been the last few years. I would imagine still above 90% capacity next year regardless. they have created a lot of fan momentum

This stat on Philly sports radio today sounds like the Phillies will have around 90 losses season.

"The Phillies didn't lose their 50th game until september 12th last season"

One of their major problems is they don't have much of a minor league pipeline anymore, having dealt most of their top prospects for veterans the past few seasons.

I think the Phillies fall short of 3 million fans in 2013 or at best barely surpass that mark. The sellout streak will end abruptly (i.e. there will be thousands of tickets available) in the Phillies' second home game in 2013.

I don't think this is exactly true, because most of the guys they've traded haven't done much in the majors yet. That factor actually points to the bigger factor hurting the Phillies right now with their lack of younger players, that the Phillies probably haven't drafted well enough or done a good enough job in player development in recent years.

The Phillies have a pretty unique approach to player drafting and development, very different from almost every other organization.

They pick great athletes, and tend to stay away from the "safer" type of draft picks, such as college players. I believe they've only selected a couple of college players with their first round draft pick (or highest pick they had if they lost the pick as compensation for signing Type "A" free agents) the past dozen years.

They also tend to spend less than most teams on the draft, not giving out big bonuses. I know they have a very extensive operation down in the Dominican Republic, and spend a lot of time scouting players in that region. They are one of the organizations that also has a number of players signed from South America, playing in the Venezuela League.

They tend to go for the speed athletes and power arms, figuring they can expend the effort on player development and teach them the "right way" to play the game. It is a very high risk approach, but they do come up with some guys who pan out well.

Baseball America, considered to be the gurus of minor league baseball, came out with their top 100 prospect list at the start of the season and had ex-Phillies Travis D'Arnaud (#17), Jon Singleton (#34), Anthony Gose (#39) and Jarred Cosart (#50) on their list. So the folks who do scouting seemed to think there might be some future plus players dealt from the Phillies organization.

But like you said, they still have to do it in the majors.

And they start the second half with Lee getting loss #6. They are now 10.5 out of the wild card. 15 out of the division. I fully expect to see some trades happening at this point. Might as well try and get a few prospects.

At least Howard hasn't forgotten how to hit homeruns. Hit his 4th tonight. And a very exciting game as a bonus. Scored 4 in the bottom of the ninth to win it.
