Smart move by Boston....4 first-round picks for two guys who will barely help them make the playoffs is exactly what they needed. The Nets on the other hand, have given themselves a two-year window for a championship, while screwing their short-term future.
I think Brooklyn is going to be...HUGE........long term.
There's a real intangible factor. It's like Brooklyn is the west coast version of the Lakers. It's cool, the place to be, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised to see more people traded there. Esp, east coast players. Brooklyn has a lot of non basketball allure. It's going to be like going to a cool club. I think they'll be in the playoffs for years, the next 8-10 years. I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Dwight Howard ends up there.
Nets had no choice. Their team was extremely mediocre. They could not beat a Bulls team that was missing Rose, Deng. They have no cap space, and a bunch of future late draft picks. They knew this, and had to make this trade. solid trade for both sides.
Both KG and Pierce are at the tail end of their careers, and I'm surprised either of them is willing to struggle through another season. These two are old and likely to have minimal impact. Maybe this is the best that Brooklyn could've done under the circumstances, as others here have said.
I don't see Brooklyn having an impact next year, certainly not in the playoffs if they make it.
