With Ballmer’s aid, elite school pushed limits of prep-sports rules | Local News | The Seattle Times

Here's an interesting report about Ballmer's approach to the game when it comes to his high school alma mater, the elite suburban Seattle private school known as 'Lakeside.' It is also the alma mater of Microsoft founders Bill Gates and Paul Allen. And actor Adam West of 'Batman' fame.

The article is an eye opener, and well worth reading. High school athletes given cars, cash, and access to lake front mansions.

In the car after one of his son’s particularly bad games, Ballmer fumed about how Lakeside’s coach was managing the team, according to Gordon’s March deposition. During his rant, Ballmer began plotting a way to bring in new personnel.
“I’m going to open up a foundation, and we’re going to get black people in here,” Ballmer declared, according to Gordon’s testimony from March.
Lakeside relaxed their vaunted academic standards to accommodate the push for athletic excellence. Needless to say, this did no favors to the athletes involved.

They relaxed their academic integrity to accommodate athletes,” said Dana Papasedero, who coached baseball at Lakeside for two decades.
The sleaze of pro sports and college sports has filtered all the way down to the high school level.

Dude, private schools have given out "scholarships" and eased standards to bring in athletes since forever.

Even public schools have bent over backwards and had "boosters" helping out athletes and whatnot.

There are Texas HS football coaches making 6-figs and having no teaching duties. lol.
