The Duke players did what they had to do to win that game down the stretch - Wisconsin did not, similar to the way Kentucky did not two nights earlier. Great win for Duke.
A lot of people are whining about officiating, but there were questionable calls against both teams...as there always are. There is no conspiracy or favoritism, just refs doing the best they can. The whining is just babies being sore losers.
For some reason I don't think this thread will get too much action. It's Duke, it's Coach K again. There's just not a lot of stories to grasp onto.
The game was competitive, but not memorable.
It's memorable for Duke fans, general basketball fans, and maybe bragging rights for the ACC...but definitely not for Wisconsin fans too busy whining about referees or Kentucky fans burning the streets of Lexington. I don't ever remember such poor losers as this year, and it was highlighted by the ignorant comment by Harrison and by several Kentucky players refusing to shake hands after their loss to Wisconsin. Shameful, but indicative of a program with a lack of control such as Kentucky.
Congrats to Duke! This was one of the worst tournaments I remember though. Even with the chalk advancing most of the way, aside from a few games (Wiscy UK, Wiscy Zona, Wiscy Duke, UK/Notre Dame) there weren't many exciting games, or exciting finishes outside of the afternoon session of round 1 which saw Georgia State & UAB upset 3 seeds, UCLA win on that awful goaltending call, and Notre Dame & Louisville both surviving scares against UC-Irvine & Northeastern respectively. After 6 PM on that Thursday if you didn't watch another second of the tournament, you wouldn't have missed all that much, it was really disappointing. You'd think with most of the higher seeds advancing, we'd get better games as the tournament wore on because the better teams were left, but that was far, far from the case.
^ You don't think WI vs Kentucky was exciting? I think the title game was exciting...tied at halftime, Duke coming back from 9 down and basically anyone's game up until the last minute.

I'm still not a fan, but I appreciate the level of success of that program. The have one of the greatest coaches, and they continually get top recruits because of the success and reputation of the program.
