There has been so many hall of famers that has not won a Ring, such as sir Charles, Stockton, Malone, etc.

With covid, there are a ton of players who don't belong in the NBA getting 10 day contracts. If their team wins, even if they are no longer on that team, they will get a ring since they were a part of the team and played X amount of minutes.

I never understood the whole idea of "ring chasing" and all of that. Only a couple idiot and someone that doesn't know a thing about basketball would say Rashard Lewis is a better player than John Stockton because he won a ring and Stockton doesn't. Who really cares?? And with how many 10 day contracts and trades happen in season nowadays compared to 20 years ago you could get a 10 day contract, play 1 minute of 1 game, never play for that team again that season, and still get a ring or at least a win share anyways. It's ridiculous!

With this covid thing now, if it gets any worse and teams sign and release many players on 10 day hardship contracts, I'm sure by the end of this season many teams will have like 30 players that "come and go" and can get a ring when their team wins.

Isiah Thomas is with the mavs now. Now he has 2 out of 30 chances of a ring. If he signs with a better off team after this one, he will be 3 of 30 chances. I'm sure some 10 day contract guys who signed with the warrior's, sun's, nets, bucks will have a better shot with a ring than AI, yao, tmac, etc. And they technically don't belong in the NBA.

I think people only consider the ring thing if the player was a major contributor to the championship and it comes into conversation when comparing greats of the same general era (like trying to decide if, say, Tim Duncan was a greater PF than Karl Malone or Charles Barkley).
There was that season where Anderson Varejão was a lock for a championship ring when he went from the tail-end of the bench in Cleveland to the tail-end of the bench in Oakland. No one really considers him a "championship" player, except at giving out high-fives and those trademark Brazilian dives for free throws.

Yes, but a ring is a ring for people who don't belong in the NBA. If your not at least a rotation player, winning a ring means very little. So many NBA players take millions less to have a chance of a ring, and for a g league player to get one, it's nuts.

It's a team sport and the team wins and loses together. Not really sure what the issue is here, so what that a G leaguer will get a ring, good for them I say.

I did not know 10-day contract players get a ring when the team champions. Good info.

It made me search for Varejao to check if he got his ring. I remember he played sparingly with the Warriors and got traded. The Warriors then went on to win it all.

Happy for him due to his circumstances the previous season.
