I'm hoping I can get some help My sister will be in Birmingham for work in a few weeks and we are stopping to see her while heading out to vacation. The problem is that we will have our dog with us, so we can't leave him in the car while we eat. We are fine with take-out food, but we just don't know what would be a good place to stop and eat. We know we'll be hot outside but I doubt we'll find a restaurant that would allow us to bring him inside

Does anyone know of any pet-friendly parks or places that we could eat? Or anywhere with pet-friendly outside seating? We'll be coming down I65S to I20E (heading towards Atlanta) but we can detour out of the way.

Thanks!
Jake

The first place that came to mind is Rojo on Highland Avenue, and sure enough it is on that list Wartrace posted.

Food is great (I recommend the paella with shrimp). It is inexpensive. And there is a good sized park right across the street.

My recommendation would be the back yard at Avondale Brewery. You can have a few beers (Miss Fancy's would be my suggestion) and pickup food from next door at Post Office Pies (Pizza), Saw's Soul Kitchen (Mostly barbecue), Melt (a grilled cheese restaurant) and the new sushi burrito place. Avondale will let you bring any of the food inside and there are always a lot of friendly dogs in the yard for your friend to run around and play with. (All fenced in.)

I would call the day before because of limited tables in the outdoor alcove, but EL BARRIO allows dogs that are under better discipline than the average children we find in restaurants these days.

Good advise on calling ahead, raj kapoor. (You're always on top of the restaurants and thanks so much for all your input!) And you're spot on about the dogs being better disciplined than the average children!!
