Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

They've been big in the El Paso/Juarez metro regions, so now, let's see what happens when a Corralito Steakhouse gets built outside of their area. Guess where that location sits, boys and girls?

Where else but Lubbock, Texas?

What will get the most intrigue is the Mexican-inspired menu Corralito offers. It's a unique experience all in itself, and it has breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections. Even though the place actually opened about...

There probably aren't two worse things in life than weak coffee and weak soap. They usually wouldn't go together, but then, people who dared might try. Well, if you happen to put that weak soap in your weak coffee, then forget it. It won't improve the taste.

Now, when I need my car cleaned, having strong soap is vitally important. Recently, I took Junior (my new car) to a newer car wash to have it cleaned up. For one visit, it seemed to do well, as...

Lessons Learned From Low Bridges

Posted 12-04-2023 at 08:05 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Let's you and I get one thing straight: Freeway underpasses must always be at least sixteen feet high. While the powers that be have wised up to it in their new freeway designs, how about doing some replacing on the old?

That's what needs to be done in a number of U.S. cities, and especially in places like Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. I am astonished at how many bridges are just too low in a number of locations of freeway in the state of Texas....

Case's Marquee Talk: Just A Little 'Rithmetic

Posted 11-29-2023 at 08:52 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

There's just something about different folks out in the hither and thether who put marquees up in front of their restaurants or stores and make a few quips. Those are things people will remember, even if they have just a few scant seconds to look.

And I've got a dandy for you right here. It was spotted at El Arroyo's in Austin, and our sage wonders gave advice to those who add and subtract on a regular basis:

"Dear Math, grow up and solve your own problems...

Tulsa International Airport's New Control Tower Finally Gets A Drawing

We've waited, and now, we have something to look at. Tulsans and Oklahomans have spent the last couple of years hotly anticipating a brand-new control tower at Tulsa International Airport.

Officials are expecting to break ground on it in a few months and will take two years to complete. For years, they've needed desperately to replace an aging (and sometimes hazardous) 60-plus-year-old facility that has outlived its usefulness. Here's a vid link below:
