There's not too much information available yet. It'll have LED daytime running lights and the iDrive gets a 10,1 in screen, other than that, you can expect the new 8 speed auto and engines to start from the 3.0L and up.
It certainly looks a lot better than the current one, doesn't it?

Not by much.
I've been pretty impressed with recent BMW redesigns, but this one falls a little flat IMO. And I'm still not sure what they're thinking with goofy vehicles like the X6 and the 5-series hatchback. It's like the design department has been sporadically eating funny mushrooms ever since the Bangle era.

Well the X6 is a huge success, so they probably thought of fattening their wallets with that one, which is a reason as good as any I suppose, when you're making consumer goods. I do agree that both that and the 5 Grand Touring are pretty abhorrent to look at though.
I do disagree with you slightly on this new 6 series. I do think it's a massive improvement over the old one, that said, the front especially could've been a bit less... conventional.
I like the interior a lot, I like that they're starting to separate the drivers compartment (incl. the center console) and the passenger compartment again.
I like the rear end some... it looks like they channelled the (way the hell better-looking) 6-series based Fisker Latigo CS a bit to pull it off:
Shame that the front end still looks horrific.
