We are thinking of moving to Boise in the future and are planning a visit during the Thanksgiving week this November to check it out. We will need to rent a car and neither of us have ever driven in the snow. Can anyone tell me if you typically have snow during this time of year? We just wanted to be prepared both for the driving experience as well as what we need to pack in terms of attire. Thank you!

Boise is about the most seasonal place I have ever lived. Meaning that each season pretty much begins and ends on the corresponding date on the calendar. So Thanksgiving will be typical late fall weather: brisk, possibly overcast and great football weather. Chance of snow in Boise is minimal, but if you decided to head up to McCall or Sun Valley there is a good chance that you will run into snow.

Even in the winter, Boise does not get much snow. They have only had to cancel school for snow twice in the past 20 years.

Snow is WAY more likely to impact any airports and travel schedules in other regions, than driving around Boise, though like grmi said, you could see it in the mountains. I'd check the local forecasts when you start to pack, as Thanksgiving is when the weather changes. I've seen it again and again, if you don't have your Christmas lights up by Thanksgiving weekend, you will more than likely be walking on a frosty roof.

Since 1993 we've had a low temp of 4 and in 1998 a high of 65.
