My wife and I are planning a trip to Boise sometime in April. Coming from Florida we would love to see some snow. Is there usually snow in the foothills still in April? If so, how long of a drive from the city would we have to make to play in the snow for an afternoon? Thanks in advance

May or may not be snow in the foothills, but I've gone hiking in waist deep snow in May near Idaho City which is only about an hours drive away. Used to do a lot of hiking and climbing to the top of mountain peaks and quite a few places were still socked in with snow until 4th of July, especially when you get close to Sun Valley.

You could find snow on the back side of the foothills in April, at least most years you could. Drive up to Bogus but then keep going.

I doubt you'll see much (if any) snow this year unless the weather changes. It's been an unseasonably warm February.

One never knows when snow will fall in Idaho.
I'm a native, and I've seen it snow twice on the 4th of July, but not recently. I don't live in the Boise area, though, and the Treasure Valley is nicknamed The Banana Belt because the climate is milder there than most of the rest of the state.
