We are seriously looking for a home in Idaho. We found something that checked a lot of boxes in Eagle. But the kitchen wasn’t quite right. It had a double oven with a microwave over it. I am vertically challenged so the microwave is out of safe reach for me. I don’t want to clutter the countertop with a microwave. There is less countertop and cabinet space than in our current kitchen. I’m trying to figure out how to make things work. We would have to buy a single wall oven to replace the double one and that would leave a big gap in the cabinetry. Putting in new cabinets would be more than we want to deal with. The granite countertops would have to come off and might be damaged along with possible damage to the backsplash and cabinets are expensive. Can anyone recommend a cabinet company that might be able to do something about the gap that would be left? I realize that there is a possibility we may have to re-stain the cabinets to match the repair. But that seems like a better option than replacing the cabinets.

I think the least expensive solution to your problem is to re-configure the double oven space. Removing one oven would give you the space for the microwave, I think.

That would probably require buying a new single oven unit, but that would be less costly than a cabinet overhaul, even though it might need a cabinetmaker to make the change fit properly and look good afterward.
