I stumbled across something called Oysterbooks.com - supposed to be $10/month for unlimited reading. I did some research and they don't necessarily have the current #1 bestsellers, but most of the reviews I've read have said that if you read a lot this is a good value. And of course some things are written better than others.
I've gone to their website to try and explore, but without signing up I can't really see much and a lot of the things I do see have a price.
