I am a sales representative for one of the four biggest mobile phone carriers in America with about 5 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. My wife is an Industrial Quality Engineer with about 3 years experience working on the medical devices industry, we are currently living in Puerto Rico and the job/economic/criminality crisis in the Island is unsustainable. We have heard that Boston is a great place for the medical devices industry.

My wife applied to some job posts with no luck (I guess it is because probably there are local candidates applying too). For me may be a chance to request my employer a transfer to a store there. We are 25 and 29 with no kids and we have about $50k in savings and I was wondering if it would be easier to relocate first and then find a job.
Please help!

You are asking same question as your wife already did. I am not sure why you are expecting different answer.

What kind of help you need? Other than finding you jobs right here on the spot, what is what you are looking to hear from people trying to help? Your wife's post and responses she go were right on the money IMHO.

You think you are more attractive candidate for relocation? Considering more experience you might be better candidate. And if so, apply to couple of jobs here in MA, and see how it goes. It is as simple as that.

50K is nothing in Boston area. You need 2X to live comfortably here. You will need first, last and security deposit to secure your apartment which equals 3x one of the most expensive rent in the nation. Good luck finding an apartment with no proof of funds beyond initial $30-40K or steady income and job. You will need winter clothes and to budget for heat. Utilities are high. Phone and internet plans as well. You need to stay close on public transport but most likely need to buy car ASAP so you can reach possible employers in this area. You will need medical insurance....Things add up quickly.

If you can land well paying job before you move, sure, why not move then?

But if you are counting on finding job after you move, only you and your wife can decide if such move is worth the risk. You might be very lucky to land something quickly, but you can also end up blowing through your savings in 4 months, and still have no jobs on the horizon, with no financial cushion of any kind. Nobody can tell you what to do with your life and career, no crystal ball here. Do what makes most sense to you.

Good luck.
