On one hand it would be great to get this racist freakazoid out of our hair. On the other this is a big promotion, what kind of message would it be sending to all the other racist freakazoids out there?

ultimately Tom Cotton is doing himself a disservice.

Rollins will be approved on a party-line vote and it will boost her natural stature and get her more backing in progressive circles.

Not quite - seeing unhinged racists like her being put on a pedestal will cause people to hold their nose and vote republican, just like trump caused people to hold their nose and vote democrat.

I doubt it. Some undecided voter in tiny town Arkansas won't even remember who Rachel Rollins is in 3 years. They don't even know who their US AG is.

Heck, or even their own Congress representative. This is pure obstructionist politics because the GOP ran out of ideas long ago.

Cotton and other GOP members are talking to their own voters. Rollins fits the bill as "the enemy" and they bash her to get points to spend the next time there is risk of a primary challenger rising to their right.
That is most of what Rollins means for them.

“Senator X voted to confirm Rachel Rollins” followed by a nice little montage of all her farrakhanisms running on TV in every purple state come next election cycle will be quite a hoot…
