I think he was exceptional. I don't see him getting much better than he was. Had he lived and kept fighting, we would've eventually seen a fighter who could give him problems. Styles make fights, and he hadn't run into a fighter with a style that would give him trouble by the time he died.
How good do you think he could have been? I think he had all the tools to be a great: Good jab, good footwork, great chin, and decent power.
I think about that a lot and would have loved to see him against Arguello and others, but it wasn't meant to be. Even though he wasn't a household name like Sugar Ray, Duran, Hagler, etc, I feel he was on the cusp of that when he died. One of my favorites, though at that time.

I think that sums it up nicely. Sanchez was a special fighter, one of my alltime favorites. His destruction of Wilfredo Gomez, who was a BEAST a that time, convinced me. I still rank Sanchez amongst the best of that period. And that period was a MUTHA.
