Brevard County is not as bad as people are making it out to be to be blunt its average county with good and bad areas. I think your family would fit right in if you do your research and find a location that's best for you which I'm sure you can.

I think your son is going to have to be the one to find a job and then the family move to where the job is. Here is a source to get started that allows for statewide searches.

I didn't read all of the posts here.

I want to point out one major aggravation for the homes in Palm Bay = well water! It's got the most disgusting smell; you can smell the odor when you walk in the front door. The taste and color is awful. The cost of purchasing/operating water equipment, filters, softeners, etc. is not something I would want to deal with. On top of the water equipment, one would still purchase bottled spring water for drinking and cooking.

I hope this gives some insight.

I have properties with both septic and well water as well as city water. If you have a properly working water softener and filter, the smell is not bad. Some people like the fact it is less costly to run your water vs paying a bill for water used. Finally, regardless of well or city, I would likely still drink bottled water. Just my preference as Palm Bay water from the city is not all that good tasting (nor is most water in Florida for that matter).

Good luck in OVIEDO! You should be able to more closely match your rental objectives there, than in Brevard County (except, perhaps, Palm Bay). But, since you are now moving to OVIEDO, new posters should know that is NOT in Brevard County!
