... "agents are staging mini-circuses, serving free drinks, offering massages and raffling off Botox treatments to draw guests to open houses ...
... Real estate agents listing an $8-million home in Santa Monica wanted to ensure a good crowd for an open house last month, so they hired a stilt walker, shirtless male jugglers and a contortionist who floated in the pool, encased in a clear plastic bubble.

Over near the Beverly Center, an agent stationed models in front of a new condominium project. Wearing chocolate velour robes and flip-flops, the young men and women served up free drinks — in keeping with the marketing theme that "it's always cocktail hour" at these condos.

etc etc

And here I thought I had the proprietary rights to "Only in CA" posts. Oh, yeah. Mine are about governance/politics. Carry on!

Servers in bathrobes and shower shoes, huh? You're right, only in California!

LOL, I'm thinking that wouldn't work in my area. Maybe offer 100' of weed whacker line. Couple of bales of hay. Case of cheap beer. Gift card to the thrift store.

Hell, I wouldn't mind being able to sell $8 million worth of housing in one year! I wouldn't mind having $8 million cross the blocks in the entire area no matter who sold it.

Stilt walkers? Holy **** I hate sales dweebs. They're almost as despicable as politicians.

Is it the plaid pants, bow ties, and bowler hats, -- the lines about "potential", -- or the "flip this" mentality that has you group them together?

California real estate agents are so tacky it is unbelievable. Some of those people will do just about anything for a commish. Including sleeping with possible buyers.

Shirtless dudes juggling, wtf, thats freakin disgusting dude.

Its always cocktail hour? Yea great marketing slogan...that'll be sure to attract every 55 year old self proclaimed cougar with fake boobs and botox and creepy old men....

I have to admitt for an industry that was so motivated by greed last decade, I do get a sick pleasure of out these people stooping to newer lows to make a buck...

Cant tell you how many of those people I ran into that were so full of themselves when they were driving bimmers back during the BOOM years, lifes beach aint it! Hehe
