Why am I posting this here? Because we are prone to quakes in Ca. DUH!. I hope that our rescue workers would put priority on rescuing people. I only say this because there are 18,000 people missing and I've not yet heard one story of a person being dramatically rescued, but hey, they got the dog right?

Well, if they SAW a person, they'd rescue a person. Just because they saw a dog and not a person doesn't mean they should leave the dog behind.

Duh.

There was the guy rescued a couple miles out to sea a week after the quake. He was on his roof, so there's yer dramatic story.

A former collegue was a member of the LA County team that went there. According to him, there weren't that many people to rescue. I'm pretty sure there's 18k missing because they're dead.

How about the 64 year old fisherman from Oshima who rode the tsunami. After he and his boat survived he was able to make hourly trips to the mainland. This is from cnn.com:

For twenty days, he has been making hourly trips to the mainland. For the first two weeks at least he provided almost the only connection with it. Without Sugawara and the Sunflower, the island would have been completely cut off.

That is a great story. BUT, I also really love the dog rescue story. Let's celebrate all the happy moments we can find in this terrible tragedy. And seriously, do you think rescue workers are passing by human survivors to rescue pets? Doubt it.

Sorry.. I don't feel your love of animals as you state, after reading this post. I see your failure to see happy moments come out of a tragedy.

A real animal lover would be happy to see the rescue of this dog... and there would be no "but" at the end of their sentence.
