El Paso de Robles (official name) has 4 words

San Luis Obispo (official name) has 3 words

Rumor has it that Paso will get a casino

rumor also has it that colored people were spotted in san luis, but that is just a rumor

To be accurate, San Luis Obispo is a shortened name. The true name should have 2 more words.......

Trivia, the Paso website states that it has a population of 29,000+. When I was a kid it had a population of 7,000+ in the past 40 years it has quadrupled in size.

But at least it now has a standard size 400 meter track at the high school, the old track was closer to 300 yards.

In the same period of time Arroyo Grande which was about the same size in 1970, has barely doubled.

This just seemed like a ridiculous post from the OP. Seriously, what is the point of the thread?

Sorta like my head, it doesn't have a point, but I like it anyway.

Some strange names in SLO County
There is no pass at Paso Robles, it is just a spot along a river, rightfully it should be named Agua De La Flatulencia
Then south of there is Atascadero, which translates to mudhole,
Then there is San Luis Obispo, named for some French guy.
And of course Arroyo Grande which does not have an Arroyo Grande, or in English, Big Gully. (yes I know some one will say there is too a big gully runs right through town, but it did not exist prior to 1883, the name was given many years prior to that)
And then, Grover Beach, which isn't.
And of course, Oceano which isn't.

Paso is more likely to get more population growth and retail growth than SLO.

We already have Wal-Mart, Target, Lowe's, OSH, and Kohl's. Costco and another department store like Macy's are next. I give it 10 years.

Kid. While I appreciate your sticktoitiveness.[thats hillbilly for determination] You have got to get get out of your mom and dads basement and get a friggin life! If you really want to see an exciting store come to the area, why dont you open up a condom boutique in SLO? Then you can truly say "F*ck Macys and Target and Home Depot!

Too many wineries if you ask me.

All those winery businesses care about is themselves and their wine.

Paso's economy can't last on tourism and service alone. That's why the city is starting to fail.

Paso needs new leadership. Gary Nemeth is a man who has been fighting and I think he has given up trying to be in office.

Paso needs to allow the airport to expand, allow businesses to go around the airport, and then allow the 2 housing big housing projects to go fourth.

It's 2011, and were at 30,000 population. Supposely Paso is supposed to get to 40,000 population by 2020. Not sure how right now.

40k is the key for a good city.

Cool! Now I don't have to go to Chumash to see all the washed-up bands! Where they gonna build it, on that patch of ground in front of Wal*Mart?

When I was working for OSH Commercial Services a couple years ago I had to send letters to wineries, seems like there were nearly 200 in the north county, but that includes a few independent vineyards that don't actually produce wine. IMHO, they also use up way too much of our aquifer for something that is a luxury while I'm on watering restrictions "to conserve precious water". But, I suppose if I brought in a billion dollars a year I could use as much water as I want.
