In a few years, if the drought continues there will be an exodus of biblical proportions.

If the drought continues, there won't be too many jobs.

I think it will impact population, particularly since I think it will have a lot more impact than many predict. IMO it will be the cause of the next global recession/depression. The power crisis sparked off a recession - given the size of California's economy it's safe to say any disruption here will be felt globally.

Cost of living, wet period or dry, is the driving factor behind the last few decades much slower growth (compared to the go-go decades like the 50s and 60s). There are too many reasons to list for that.

Default home owners in drought-stricken areas.

Population surging in drought-stricken areas | Brookings Institution
Looks like the drought will continue in 2016. Will the surge start reversing into an exodus. Some think it will…

Lot's of folks have good equity in their homes. Will the drought effect home values? Are you home owners in SoCal thinking about this as an issue in the near future? I have sure been this last year.

Well, I've changed my plans to move back to CA because of the drought, and I'm cautioning friends who are planning to move back, as well.

It has dulled my enthusiasm as well, even though my wife would not move. Now she will tell me (again) she was right.

Impacts: 1) People may run out of veggies; 2) No Delta Smelt left to use as bait; 3) Stinky people; 4) Bottles of water priced like booze; Filthy cars; 5) Bigger conflagrations; 6) Fewer runners; 7) Owner/pet conflicts over the water bowl; 8) Water as an ancient history subject in schools; 9) a water prohibition like that of the '30s; 10) Water worship a new religion.

Just a few off the top of my head.
