Just to put this into perspective, into a temperature that you can imagine feeling. The max temperature cut off for a hot tub is 104 degrees.

Now imagine trying to exert yourself in any manner, including just walking, while your body is surrounded with heat that is hotter than the hottest hot tub.

Then, imagine getting into your closed car, which is now literally an oven. This chart only goes up to 95 degrees, but after a car sits in 95 degrees for an hour, it's 140 degrees in the car.

I also thought I could handle the heat, because I'd lived in the Sacramento area. You just can't imagine it, I guess, unless you experience it.

The good news is that the winter in Redding is wonderful. Sunny and not too much rain, and it's easy to bundle up and be out in it, as it rarely ever gets cold enough to snow.

A lot of people live in Redding, though, so maybe you can handle the heat. If you can, it's got a lot going for it.

Usually the younger folks can handle the Heat or the Cold much better then the older folks, from what i've seen.

Myself, i enjoy the Heat & the Cold at different times of the year, enjoying different outdoor activities...
I spend a lot of time around water during the summer.

I prefer an area that has wide open spaces outside of town, not congested with people or heavy traffic. I guess I'm looking for the California I remember back in the 60s and 70s.
Use citi-data to see what you think of Santa Rosa - a smallish, city/town, about 50 miles north of San Francisco.

Santa Rosa has lots of outdoors space w/o other towns being too close ; there might be 2-3 mobile home parks nearby ; and the only traffic congestion is during the rush hours in the AM and PM.

I've often thought about moving there myself but never have followed up.
