Hi everyone. I wanted to get some advice. I will be moving to the hollywood,California area in January for a graphic design internship. They told me north hollywood area would be my best bet. The internship is in Sunland, California. My budget is between 1000 to 1500. I would rather stay closer to 1000 if possible. I am fine with a studio apartment, but I will be bringing my dog. I have looked online at places but iam not sure of the places I found are in a good or bad area. Is there really any bad areas in north hollywood or the surrounding areas? Any advice or suggestions will be great. I also plan on getting a serving or bartending job because the iternship is unpaid. I honestly have no idea if some of these places for around 1000 are in terrible areas or not. Iam willing to look at other cities also. Thanks you

Well congrats on the internship, but you might ask this thread be moved to the LA board.

You're not interning in Hollywood if the position is in Sunland. Sunland is a suburb north of LA. It's near Tujunga, La Crescenta, and Montrose. I would look in Montrose and La Crescenta for apts.

Sunland is about 20 miles north of Hollywood.

North Hollywood, try to stay south of Vanowen St. and west of Tujunga.

You may want to consider checking Craigslist to see if you can find a short term roommate/apt. share for the duration of your internship. $1000 a month won't go far in the LA area (or indeed, in most of southern California).

A bigger issue will be your dog. If at all possible, I'd consider leaving your pet at home with your parents or a friend while you are doing your internship. A lot of places in LA and Southern California are "no pets" and of those that do accept pets, many charge a monthly pet fee that will increase your rent. I'd leave my dog safe in Ohio if I'm only going to be in Calif. temporarily.

Good luck with your internship!

Hi that k you for your reply. Unfortunately my dog has to come with me. My cousin I live with now can't take care of it. I can go as high as 1500 a month. I just was trying to avoid that.
