The greedy dmv does not pro rate registration. I took my car off non op with the tags due 11-15-09. I just spent $55.00 to drive my car for 2 months (9/15-11/14) & $67.00 for 11-15-09 to 11-15-10. Also i paid $68.00 to the dmv thinking my other car was not a salvage vehicle. I was wrong so the dmv wants this & that. I requested a refund application hoping the dmv would non op the car (18.00) & refund my $50.00. Both times i have received a drivers license application in the mail. Its quite obvious the foul, corrupt state legislature are dirty thieves & dont want to refund my money. Im out $68.00 plus if i still have the Tbird next aug ill have to pay $18.00 for a non op or face stiff penalties. The state claims they are broke yet they rob us blind. Discusting!!!!!

I do not believe any state will prorate registration.
However when totaled and paid off by insurance they pay the insurance co a check returning part of the registration.

Nevada pro rates vehicle registration. I bought my car back from the insurance company ($160.00) after the property settlement. I signed a form at the dmv stating my Tbird will not be driven on public roads. Had i not they would of suspended my registration even though the tags were expired. Had i done my homework i would of saved over $138.00. Live and learn.

The greedy dmv burned me for $68.00 & now want around 200.00 unless i go to the dmv & non op the car (18.00) by 8-5-10. If i dont pay any fees then it will go to around 300.00. I bame myself for assuming my car wasnt reported to the dmv as a total loss & not confirming it first before i mailed the dmv 68.00. I screwed up myself on my accident settlement (accepted less then i should of) & the dmv. Its a costly lesson learned.
