It just seems inherently unfair and inefficient for the toll road company to bill me when DMV has my release of liability on file (I think I said this before, but the DMV says they have it on file, but they can't give me a copy unless I submit a request, which takes 4 weeks and $20).

Gripe, gripe, gripe...

Just another example of guilty... till proven innocent.

We never really had these problems before widespread camera use. Back in the day, many problems were dealt with at the time a law enforcement officer pulled you over.

I've had my share of tickets for cities I HAVE NEVER BEEN for cars I have registered non-op...

I can relate!

Friend of mine owned a auto garage, he bought some cars needing work and resold them after he fixed them. He sold one Volvo to a customer, took the car and buyer to the DMV to complete sale. The buyer returned a year later and sold the car back to him.

Ken gets served a summons for a hit and run involving that car during the ownership of that buyer. CA says Ken is responsible as the owner. Several visits with DMV and attorneys, ends up CHP and DMV both knew who owned it, was trying to get Ken to find the driver for them at his cost. Lazy bastards.

The dmv & chp are 2 peas in a pod. State agencies cover each others asses. Always have...always will.
