If you had a vehicle that you towed four down behind an RV, and you wanted to sell it, what would you check for the odometer certification?
Would you check that the actual mileage was greater than the indicated mileage?
Or, would you certify that the indicated mileage was the actual miles on the vehicle? Technically, wouldn't that be a fraudulent statement?
You would have to check the actual mileage I think.
So, in your opinion, the miles on the engine is all that is important, the miles on the axles and driveshafts mean nothing?
Is that an accurate statement?
It wouldn't concern you that the vehicle you are buying only had 50K on the odometer, but had been towed for an additional 75K?
If you were to register or sell it you would have to go with whatever is on the odometer. Now if you're selling it to me and you have some kind of proof that it was indeed towed it wouldn't be a problem but like I said, registering to DMV you need to provide the actual mileage.
The DMV is interested in all real miles for taxation, towed or not.
The towing mileage is just to clinch the sale quicker. The motor will last longer but the axles still get wear.

Pretty much this, to be lawful to the DMV... but I'd certainly mention it when selling to make things look better/in perspective to the buyer.
