Good low budget film, shot mainly in Toronto, circa 1969, released in 1970.
I taped it off TV years ago, hard to find on DVD.
The two main actors in it also starred in another canadian classic “Wedding in White” (1972).
It was perfectly parodied by SCTV. John Candy and Joe Flaherty played the two guys, and I believe that Jayne Eastwood (who was in the original film) had a small part in the parody.
"Well, we've lost our jobs, our apartment, and our girls. What are we gonna do?"
Precious little, and the fact that some people try to position it as such speaks volumes about why the Canada-centric arts community rarely seems to go that far with their domestic television or movie productions.
Do people from Cape Breton still speak with Irish or Scottish influences?
