This is the first claim that Geico ends up paying after being with them for more than 5yrs

this happened earlier this year. I was parked on the street right outside my apartment in Queens, NY. Woke up to find massive damage to both, front and back, passanger doors.
I filed a claim and got it fixed. The bill came out to be close to $6,500.

Now I moved from NY to TX and I park in my driveway but my renewal is coming up in January of 2017, and I'm a little scared of a substantial increase in rates.
I quoted with other big insurers and they all want me to pay 35% more than I'm currently paying with Geico. The only exception is Progressive that for the same level of insurace they would charge 8% less than Geico.

so my questions are.

Is my rate increasing for sure?

If I switch now to progressive I would lock in those savings, but what happens if I don't swtich until I renew and geico's rates go, will Progressive's rate also go up?

thoughts ?

Thanks.

Well, all claims info goes into a database called "LexisNexus". If you change insurance its possible they will pull that report and see the claim. Also, you do know that they(when you sign up for new insurance) ask if youve had any claims right? You have to answer honestly(else no coverage when you need it, since you unrepresented yourself as a risk) so I dont see how changing now would be any different than changing later.

Geico is generally pretty cheap, and often the cheapest. So its no surprise to me that most other insurers are higher.

There is pretty much no earthly way of knowing if you rate will increase for sure, it depends on many factors. You might as well just call Geico and ask.

I always state the truth in my quotes. it would be foolish to lie in the information age where almost everything we do is in a database.

and when I asked Geico if my rate will change, they always say, we cannot tell until you renew.
