I belonged to AAA for years, until they dramatically increased rates. Right now I have Auto Owners.

It's impossible to answer your question because we have no idea what state you're in.

The best rates I am seeing now are out of Sublimity (OR, UT) and United Heritage (ID, UT, OR, AZ). State Auto had fantastic rates, but they took a rate increase in October and things are not as they used to be. Metlife Auto & Home took three rate decreases in UT this year, and they are now competitive on many people in their desired credit-based insurance score range. In addition, Bear River Mutual has always been rate competitive in the Beehive State.

Couple of ways to determine an insurance company's reputation. Start with your insurance department which will often have insurance companies rated by the number of complaints. You can also google an insurance company and include the word "reviews" or "complaints" in your search parameters.

Many insurance departments publish annual rate comparisons. Or you can just shop around online, with direct writers, and local agents.

I had my own insurance with Auto Owners for many years while their rates were competitive. Claims service was great, too.

But then had a variety of carriers during a period of volatility. Things have settled down in the past few years and Pekin Insurance Company is very competitive in Arizona and also has great claims service.

Looks like you're in Michigan so your rates are amongst the highest in the country! Find an independent insurance agent in your area. They will be able to quote you with several carriers to find you the best rates!
