My 92 year old father is in a nursing home and is beginning to struggle dialing his regular phone. It doesn't help that he has to dial a 9 to get an outside line. Add that to the fact my area code consists of numbers 9 and 1 - you get the idea, he's started dialing 911 by accident!

He's asked me to get him a big button phone. I bought one on Amazon. It felt cheaply made. Most of the numbers don't even push down.

Does anyone have recommendations for good quality, big button phones, with speed dial? No need for answering machine. Speaker phone might be handy.

Thank you.

Many years ago when my mother started having trouble using the phone I bought her one with large buttons and a place you can put pictures. You could just press on the picture and it would dial for you. It also had a light on it that would flash for an incoming call. I can't remember the name of the one I bought her but this site is one of several that sells this type of phone.

Here’s what we got for my dad. https://panasonic.factoryoutletstore...gitemid=425287

There are three big numbered buttons that can be preprogrammed, so we programmed them for my brothers and me in birth order, so easy to remember. That big button on the lower right is the speakerphone so when he gets a call all he has to do is press that button to answer. To call any of the three of us using the big numbers, he just presses the speaker button, then the big number. He has shaky hands so not having to hold the receiver was important. He quite liked the phone, but have to say, since he got comfortable with his echo he never uses the phone anymore, just orders echo to call people. Movement is pretty difficult so voice control works better. Family knows that he usually won’t make the effort anymore to answer our calls, he’ll just wait until the phone quits ringing (it announces who the call is from), then tell the echo to call whomever was trying to reach him.

My cousin got this for his Mom and it worked great. She was in an assisted living and wanted a corded phone as cordless was giving her a headache.

This phone eliminated entirely the need for any numbers as her phone list was not bigger then all
the pictures could fit. Cousin has programmed each picture button for each of her children and the main people in her life at this time and it worked perfectly. Otherwise I am not sure how it would work for your Dad since the numbers per se are not that huge.

One other idea I would share is to buy two phones. One the above for the immediate family
and another with big digits for other calling needs. You can easily do splitter and plug it into he phone outlet and have two phones connected to one line.

Here is an amazon search results for you:

This kind is pretty solid:
