https://www.city-data.com/forum/cats/...home-cat.htmle Some of you may remember my adoption. Well, he has always been a friendly, loving cat but now it's going too far! He has awoken me the past 2 mornings at 4:30 a.m. by licking my face, nose, arms, hands. And purring like mad! OK, I get it, I'm his favorite but geesh! I need my sleep. Any suggestions to gently tell him "later, not now?"
One of my cats, Stella the Diva Cat, wakes me up around 5 am by standing on my stomach and purring into my face. It's extremely up-close-and personal. She merely want chow. I stroke her head and tell her to go back to sleep and she usually does.
If I closed the door on the cats they (all three) would start howling. Someone has spoiled them badly.
Make sure they have enough food.....before you go to bed at night.
(maybe even put a little bit of food in your bedroom for his/her morning breakfast :-)

I have this going on usually the entire night. A stroke here from one of my hands, a hand-bump there, another stroke, stroke, stroke, and then I lay my hand down next to the cat in question, making sure that cat sees my hand still. Before I know it, my cat will either lay down next to my hand (sigh of relief!) with his or her face on my hand, or go down to the foot of the bed and curl up.
I've gotten so used to this, I know I now do it in my sleep. I seriously don't mind. I have the Mommy's ear, and now I have the Mommy's hand. It all can be done while sleeping.
Cooper does this, but it's not for food, he just needs love. My SO has said he's seen me petting Cooper and talking to him literally in my sleep! Usually after I pet him for a little while, he'll settle down, does your kitty keep you up? I think the SO is just jealous because when he wakes me up I'm grumpy, but when Cooper wakes me I'm pleasant as can be!
