You are preachin' to the choir, sista'.......honest to god, I have YET to meet a cat I couldn't love. I gave up explaining or apologizing for them years ago. Always had them, always will, they are the best music for my soul anyway...

Default Goodbye my precious friend.

Sadly, it's come time. I posted a few months ago about my sick older (21!!!) yr old Calico Tri-color Dottie. I've been keeping her going with some experimental drug therapies that did work for the past 6 - 8 mo... for awhile. But they have lost their potency. (her picture's in my profile album).

But now, I have to admit, it's gone on too long. Her kidneys are failing almost hourly and she can no longer walk without obvious pain and suffering, and is almost always sleeping. It's been taking her about 5 minutes to circle her "nest" and come in for a sleep, which is usually only about 2 hours long. She meows in pain from time to time as well when she's slowly walking, and we all know just how stoic cats can be as regards their pain.

At least as of late she's been sleeping by my side each night, cuddling up tight to my back, and I've turned on the electric blanket on her side of the bed. She purrs then...

I'll be holding her tonight for the last time. Tomorrow.... very sad.

I'm sorry rifleman. We all have been in your shoes. 21 years is an extraordinarily long time for a cat and you have given this cat a life of love and safety. You are doing the right thing. My condolences.

Rifleman....I am terribly sorry that the time has come, and I absolutely know how much your heart is breaking. I believe she has a wonderful and loving owner and a remarkable life - she is depending on you now to help her the final leg of her journey and I know you won't let her down. My heart is breaking at what lies before you, and I will be thinking about you two and offering up a special prayer. I am so very sorry.....

Default Final Passage.

And... as of 11:00am, she's gone.

Good voyage, Dot.

Thanks everyone, for your very kind thoughts.

give yourself plenty of time and space to grieve. Many of us are here to comfort you. Do you know about the Rainbow Bridge Forum? Even if you want to start your own thread on the cat page you will find kindred spirits. some people do not have people in their lives who understand such a loss but here we know.

Oh Rifleman, so very sorry to hear this. You gave her 21 great years, and THAT is pretty amazing. RIP Dottie.
